There are plenty of creative ways to spice up an old glass sweet jar, whether you’re into arts and crafts of not. Our first idea is to paint your empty jar. Whether you use glass paints or even just let loose with some old nail polish, using paint to decorate sweets jars is a great rainy day activity for both you and the kids and is sure to create some great memories as well as a jar you can keep for years to come! Why not use stencils to create a truly professional looking jar that would make the perfect gift or keep sake? If you don’t have glass paints available, you could even use nail varnish for a cheap way to get crafty - personally, we do love to throw in a bit of glitter as well to really add some extra sparkle!

If you want to decorate glass sweet jars without the mess of paints then stickers and ribbon are a great easy alternative. Let the kids go wild and decorate their own jar for the perfect summer holiday activity for those looong 6 weeks off! If you want a super quick and easy way to decorate sweet jars then simply tie a ribbon around the bobble topped lids of one of our sweet jars and you instantly have a beautiful jar for use as decoration at an event or to store things in around the house. Use as the perfect desk top pencil pot that will have your colleagues jealous around the office or store the random bits and bobs around the house that can never find a home! Whatever you use it for, it’s the perfect way to add a splash of colour and a homely touch.

As the summer months roll in, there’s one thing we’re excited for…barbeques! Another fantastic way to decorate glass sweet jars that’s perfect for the summer time is to simply add a tea light.

Placing a tea light or candle in our smaller glass sweet jars is the perfect unique way to add a special touch to your home or garden. Why not create a collection of tea light jars or decorate sweet jars with lights along a string to create your very own hanging fairy light effect? If you want to go one step further, you could even make your very own candle to go inside the jar and even create candles of different colours. Or add some fairy lights for a super simple and super easy way to add a rustic feel to your patio!

Another great use for empty glass sweet jars is as a plant pot. Simply add some soil and get planting! Our range of different sized jars means that you can plant everything from pint-sized cactuses to larger pot plants to give your home or office space a unique, modern feel to it. Why not decorate a shelf with a range of jars - some filled with sweets and some with plants or bits and bobs in to create a quirky feel and to add your own personal creative touch to home décor.

Of course though, one of the most obvious options for an empty glass sweet jar is simply to refill it with more sweets! Here at Keep It Sweet we’ve got hundreds of old school favourites from all the previous decades gone by that are sure to satisfy a sweet tooth and add new life to an old jar! Maybe you were a child of the 90s? The 90s saw a huge take off of sour sweets and there was a huge demand for different types of eye-watering delights. One of the most popular was Toxic Waste. These individually wrapped boiled sweets are dangerously sour and will have your cheeks burning even at the sight of them. Think you’re tough? Just wait until you try one of these! Lollies were also big in the 90s. Drumstick Lollies are a true retro classic and are still just as chewy and wonderful as you remember. Did you know that these iconic milk and raspberry flavoured sweets were actually created by accident? We personally think this is one of the best accidents to ever happen in the world and are still as massive fans of these 90s sweets as we were back in the day. Fill an old glass sweet jar with these iconic favourites and you’re sure to be a hit with your friends and family!
